A prestigious restaurant/pub in Lusaka is looking for an operations manager. We at foresight are conducting the interviews and screening process. The individual must Assist in the daily operations and with menu planning, maintains sanitation and assists servers and hostesses on the floor during peak
meal periods. Strives to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction and maximize the financial performance in the areas of responsibility.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous experience in Food and Beverage Management including planning regular and special events menu.
- In depth working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- In depth know of food preparation and presentation.
- Experience in staff management and development.
- Knowledge of planning and forecasting.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Experience in analyzing financial data.
- Track record of managing inventory and cost control.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures.
- Able to use relevant computer application.
- Proficiency in Point of Sales (POS) software, inventory software, Restaurant tracking software, inventory management software, staff tracking software and other related applications.
Knowledge Responsibilities:
- Oversees the Dining area, supervises food and beverage service staff in accordance with operating policies he or she may create including restaurant problem identification through reports, ideate and execution.
- Creates a positive team atmosphere among team members.
- Maintains records of staff and of operating costs.
- Coaches teams on how to exceed guest expectation and providing feedback and coaching to the team regularly.
- Understands building capacity through cross training.
- Treats all members fairly, with respect as well as not blame others take accountability for problems.
- Sets high standards for appropriate team behavior on shift.
- Works with food and beverage staff to ensure proper food presentation and proper food handling procedures.
- Handle customer complaints with the restaurant.
- Schedules periodic food and beverage service staff meetings to ensure correct interpretation of policies and obtain feedback from staff members.
- Maintain budget and employee records, prepare payroll, and pay bills, or monitor book keeping records.
- Regularly checks the quality of fresh food and baked goods on display.
- Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment and other services.
- Total receipts and balance against sales, deposits receipts, and lock facility at end of the day.
- Ensures new products are executed properly following roll-out.
- Capability to handle irate customers with friendly/calm attitude.
- Ensure product quality and great service.
- Shows enthusiasm about guests within the restaurant.
- Flexibility in dealing with changes/problems (e.g. being short staffed).
- Ability to effectively to ensure most important tasks are completed on time.
- Effective delegation and follow-ups and well as taking ownership of issues or tasks and also gives details updates to the unit manager
