POSITION: COACHING BOYS INTO MEN (CBIM) COORDINATOR – LUSAKA (1)
Reports to Program manager The incumbent will support the project manager in day to day management and implementation of the School Based HIV Prevention activities in the project intervention districts with a special focus on the DREAMS districts. S/he will work closely with and support sub-grantees, DEBS, Schools, DHACs and health facilities working in their districts and will ensure coordination with other relevant programs and stakeholders at Community, District, Provincial and National levels. S/he will coordinate the implementation and follow up of CBIM activities, school-based interventions focusing on school based safe space activities, CSE support to selected schools, extracurricular prevention activities and enrolling AGYW back to school.
Main duties
- Manage the day to day running of the CBIM activities
- Map in and out of school sports coaches in the districts
- Facilitate the training of coaches in CBIM approach
- Facilitate coaches to conduct weekly CBIM sessions for in and out of schools
- Facilitate establishment of safe spaces for boys and teachable moments in sports
- Support and guide project scheduled assessments, evaluations, monitoring and designs.
- Facilitate development of the project work plans.
- Monitoring of progress and achievements of the project on an on-going basis.
- Organize community project and resource mobilization for participation in planned activities.
- Ensure a strict compliance to the CRZ child safeguarding practices with respect to the child protection policy, code of conduct at all times; monitoring and reporting on compliance to policy standards in the project/project area.
- Facilitate effective and meaningful participation of adolescent boys as agents of change in all project interventions/processes in line with CRZ Child Participation guidelines.
- Engage with project partners to assess and address the existing child protection related issues in the community and ensure appropriate and timely reporting/action is undertaken on CP incidents.
- Build multi-sectoral linkages and community based initiatives, networks and coordination mechanisms.
- Organize and facilitate child protection/CBIM related research activities through focus group discussions and interviews, with the guidance of the line supervisor(s)
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work, Education, Adult Education, Public Health and/or Social Sciences or relevant or equivalent experience.
- Fluency in English and a working knowledge of local languages.
- Excellent communications and report writing skills.
- Training and knowledge in HIV/AIDS prevention in the health sector.
- Project management experience.
- M & E experience will be an added advantage).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in NGO and HIV environments.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage a variety of activities concurrently.
- A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a high profile, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate technical issues effectively and persuasively.
- Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
