Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is an independent non-profit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition with over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector in managing their environment and natural resources. We are looking for candidates to fill the Monitoring and Evaluation (MEL) Assistant  position in the newly awarded USAID-Zambia Expanding Water and Sanitation Project. The purpose of the USAID Expanding Water and Sanitation Project is to professionalize WASH services, to promote accountability for reliable and high-quality WASH services, and to enhance the enabling environment for private sector engagement.

 

Position Description:
The MEL Assistant will provide support to the MEL Director on monitoring and evaluation and Collaboration, Learning and Adapting (CLA) related activities and ensure responsive reporting, and ongoing learning and adapting across the project. The MEL Assistant will assesses data quality through (1) system validation rules and checks in the activity database, and (2) periodic data quality assessments (DQAs), implement data collection processes and tools adhering to data quality, monitor progress against targets and prepares quality reports. The MEL Assistant will directly report to the MEL Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, social sciences, or other related field, and 3 years of experience, or master’s degree and 1 year of relevant professional experience.
    Demonstrated ability to lead design and implementation of monitoring systems, databases, and data collection tools;
  • Computer literacy, with ability to analyze, desegregate and interpret data using Excel, online reporting tools, and/or statistical packages.
  • Demonstrated experience using data and learning to inform program decision-making;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Experience with MEL that measures and promotes gender and social inclusion;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Work experience in Zambia required. Experience in targeted provinces preferred (Northern/Muchinga/Southern/Wester)
  • Ability to travel and work throughout Zambia
