Senior Tax Accountant Barrick

Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Senior Tax Accountant.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Tax Manager, your duties will include but not limited to the following;

Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation and submission of tax returns for all tax types.
Responsible for the preparation of tax journals for all tax types and ensuring all general ledger tax accounts reconcile to tax workings and returns.
Responsible for identification of tax risks on any contract.
Responsible for the reconciliation of ZRA statements.
Timely monitoring and research on relevant taxation trends, legislative changes, and relevant economic/fiscal changes in Zambia.
Providing support to the finance and supply chain teams in areas of tax compliance, reviewing certain key business transactions and ensuring that the relevant documentation is always maintained for tax purposes.
Ensuring that the organization’s tax policies, procedures and standards are implemented effectively and, in a manner, consistent with company’s best practice.

Experience & Qualifications

Full grade 12 school certificate
Degree in Accounting/Taxation/Finance or Part/Full ACCA, CIMA, ZiCA or Equivalent.
ZiCA Professional Tax Qualification will be an added advantage.
A member of ZiCA.
Minimum 5 years accounting and tax experience.
A very good understanding and experience of the principles and practice of taxation and tax reporting.
Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
Good computer skills with the ability to use ERP systems and Microsoft office suit applications.
