Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

• Managing industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into storage facilities

Specific Job Responsibility

• Physically receive goods at warehouse.
• Check goods for quality/damage and advise supervisor/transporter and supplier if any problems.
• Check for quantity according to supplier’s delivery document, the quality of the packaging and the goods.
• Put away the goods on the location in appropriate manner and always consider the safety aspects, and as directed by the superior.
• Offload and unload goods from the trucks using the correct method.
• Perform “Take 5” when handling chemicals and read the MSDS.
• Inspect the equipment before use, and complete the Pre-start Check List.

Key Job Attributes

• Identify and report faulty equipment, damages, and safety concerns to Supervisor immediately.

• Load and unload products from trailers using forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.

• Store the products in proper places in warehouse.

• Transport products to and from warehouse and distribution centres.

• Deliver products to various units in safely and timely manner.

• Sort, pack, wrap, tie and label products as per company procedures.

Weigh products and record weight and other data in product labels.

• Move and load hazardous wastes under direction of supervisor.

• Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood and plastic.

• Follow company standards and legal regulations to ensure safe and positive work atmosphere.

• Maintain forklift equipment by troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, recommending repairs and performing routine pre and post inspections.
• Study production schedule to determine material requirements, movements and deliveries
• Record information regarding movements of supplies, materials and products.
• Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.

Experience required to perform in this job

• 2-3 year of experience as forklift operator or similar role
• Attention to detail
• Good knowledge of industrial equipment
• Very good physical condition
• Excellent coordination
• Valid certification to operate forklifts
• Good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
