VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
1. POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR
The Council of the Harvest University through the Search Committee wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Vice-Chancellor.
Job Purpose: The Vice-Chancellor reports to the University Council and is responsible for provision of strategic leadership in academic, administrative and financial management of the institution in attaining its mandate of Education.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the Vice-Chancellor include the following:
1. To ensure that the vision, mission, strategy, strategic goals, and policies of the University, which have been approved by the University Council, are consistently and competently carried out across all parts of the University.
2. To nurture a culture of excellence across all parts of the University by providing academic, financial and administrative leadership and ensuring the good management of the University.
3. To be responsible for the effective management of the University’s resources, ensuring that human and financial resources are used in ways that support the institutions mission and strategic goals.
4. To exercise general oversight of the University’s financial position in order to ensure a sustainable financial base that allows the delivery of the University’s mission, aims and objectives focusing on operational excellence and solid fiscal performance.
5. To play a leading part in shaping the academic development of the University.
6. To promote and market the University locally, nationally and internationally.
7. To ensure that the infrastructure and resources provided to support learning and teaching are fit for the purpose, and support the provision of a high quality student learning experience.
8. Protect the University’s assets by taking reasonable measures to shield the institution from financial, legal, and reputational risks.
9. To lead the University successfully in any quality audits of its educational provision (including responsibility for the University’s engagement with professional, statutory and regulatory bodies), and ensure that the University’s quality management processes are fit for purpose, support the achievement of institutional strategic objectives and promote enhancement of the student learning experience.
10. To define the public image of the University, and ensures that public communication with the media and others reinforces that image protect and enhance the overall reputation of the University.
11. To make connection between research, industry and the community at large.
12. To articulate the University’s needs and interests to national and local government, funders, regulators, businesses, professional bodies and partners advocate for the University and foster effective and ongoing dialogues within all levels of government, including with respect to funding grants and the University’s research enterprise.
REQUIREMENTS
A candidate aspiring for a position of Vice Chancellor must possess the following qualifications and experience:
1. An earned doctorate of philosophy (PhD) from a recognised university and certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority.
2. An accomplished researcher, teacher and publisher with a number of publications in peer reviewed journals, monographs and books. Further, the candidate should demonstrate his/her research prowess that will turn around Harvest University into a research power house with the strongest pool of research activity.
3. A minimum of ten (10) years teaching experience in a higher education institution and must have worked at a senior level.
4. Must demonstrate leadership and management skills including knowledge of public financial management and strategic staff management.

REMUNERATION
The University offers a remuneration package for the person appointed to the position of Vice Chancellor as determined by the University Council from time to time.
