Our Client, one of the reputable Insurance Company is seeking to recruit the Managing Director.
The Managing Director will be responsible to the Board of Directors for overseeing all the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the Company through visionary leadership and effective management of the Executive team.
He/She will provide strategic leadership to the Company and should have an exceptional vision to transition the Company from its current position into a strong well established national reinsurance company.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The Managing Director will have the following primary duties and responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership to the Company in line with its Strategic Plan
- Strengthens networks and partnerships with all stakeholders in the industry, including
Government; - Promotes the Company’s image and develops a good working relationship with all stakeholders and partners;
- Provides general oversight of all activities and manages the day-to-day operations for a smoothly functioning and efficient organization;
- Assures quality of services provided and organizational stability through development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regular evaluation;
- Assures a work environment that recruits, retains, and supports quality staff and ensures an effective process for selecting, developing, motivating, and evaluating staff;
- Ensures continuous achievement of the Company’s financial and operating goals and objectives while ensuring continuous improvement in the quality and value of services provided by the Company;
- Ensures that the Company is appropriately organized and staffed and taking disciplinary measures as necessary to enable it to achieve the approved strategy;
- Ensures that expenditures of the Company are within the authorized annual budget;
- Assesses the principal risks of the Company and ensures that these risks are monitored and managed and drive the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function;
- Ensures effective internal controls and management information systems are in place for effective, lawful, and ethical performance;
- Communicates effectively with the Government and any other relevant Government agencies, regulated entities, employees, other stakeholders, and members of the public;
- Ensures that the Board of Directors is properly informed to enable the Directors to make appropriate and timely decisions;
- Ensures that the Company maintains high standards of corporate citizenship and social responsibility;
- Acts as the principal spokesperson of the Company;
- Ensures the integrity of all public disclosure by the Company;
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the Board of Directors.
Skills Requirements
- Specialist knowledge in insurance/reinsurance
- Excellent interpersonal, strong presentation skills, and effective communication skills
- Strong negotiation and reporting skills;
- Have Ethics, integrity and promote professionalism
- Ability to comfortably and energetically represent the Company both locally and internationally.
- Outstanding analytical, organizational, and leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor.
- Strong analytical skills and competency in business development and strategic planning.
- Strong financial planning skills and experience in achieving financial results.
- Knowledge of Strategic management, project planning, budgeting resource management, implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multi-task
- Strong work ethic, commitment, and team player
Qualifications
- Minimum Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII); preferably a Fellow.
- A university degree in Insurance or Finance, or any Business-related discipline;
preferably MSc/MBA - Must meet the Regulatory requirements of “Fit and Proper”
- Considerable knowledge, and competence with at least ten (10) years of experience in a managerial capacity in insurance/reinsurance.
- Knowledge and experience in Reinsurance.
