Northrise University, the first private university in Zambia, is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity to an individual prepared to lead in the development and growth of our new Northrise University School of Engineering.

As we continue to expand our academic programs, we are introducing the Northrise School of Engineering, with the first intake scheduled for January 2024. The initial program focuses on civil engineering, with additional specialties to be developed in the future. The Founding Head will be a member of the School of Engineering Development Team and work with other engineering leaders from Zambia and the U.S. to build and introduce one of the best engineering programs in southern Africa. The Head of the School of Engineering will have significant influence regarding the development and accreditation of the program, hiring of faculty and staff, and recruitment of students.

The Head of Department – School of Engineering (HOD) is a leadership position responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising the Northrise University School of Engineering (NUSOE) programs.

The HOD leads the School of Engineering educational program design, implementation, and quality assurance. Oversight includes academic programming that encourages maximum utilization of campus resources and facilities and fosters collaboration among disciplines, working with faculty, staff administrators, partnering organizations, and other stakeholders to achieve the mission and shared vision of Northrise University.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related engineering field. (Ph.D. highly preferred)

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with NU departments, cross-functional teams, NU partnering organizations, and international partners.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology for research and instruction.
  • Demonstrated evidence of the call to the engineering profession.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and with international partners in different time zones.
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas of Zambia.
  • An active and growing Christian faith and walk.

A vision for articulating the integration of the Christian faith with the practice of engineering, both in the teaching of students and in the engagement of the topic with colleagues inside and outside Northrise.

All applicants should submit a typed cover letter of not more than two pages that clearly states the position applied for; the academic and professional qualifications they possess; and the major achievements in their previous and/or current job. Furthermore, the Curriculum vitae should be current, not more than five pages long, clearly state the duration(s) and nature of their past and current work experience; and include at least four traceable referees.
