About the Project
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) ± Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Population (CHEKUP 1) Project is a follow-on to the USAID Zambia Community HIV Prevention Project (Z-CHPP), which was being implemented by Pact Inc., and the USAID Open Doors Project (OPD), implemented by FHI360.
The USAID CHEKUP 1 Project is led by CIDRZ and implemented in partnership with the Young Women Christian Association of Zambia (YWCA), Tackle Africa, Pact Inc., D-tree, Key Populations Civil Society Organizations (KP-CSOs) and Copper Rose Zambia. The program which is running for five (5) years is being funded by USAID and implemented by a consortium of 7 organizations in Lusaka, Ndola, Kitwe, Chingola, Luanshya, Mufulira, Chililabombwe, Solwezi, and Livingstone districts. Out these Districts Copper Rose Zambia is leading activity implementation in 5 Districts namely: Lusaka, Kitwe, Chingola, Mufulira and Luanshya.
The goal of this Program is to improve the health outcomes of Zambians by preventing new HIV infections among priority and key populations most at risk of acquiring HIV, namely adolescent girls and young women, adolescent boys and young men, people living with HIV, mobile populations, discordant couples, and key populations.
The Position
Reports to: Project Manager
Main duties
- Acts as the focal point person between the project and schools in terms of updates, activity implementation and any other commitments as assigned.
- Supports project partners and district coordinators in designing and implementation of targeted and evidence-based HIV prevention strategies and interventions in Schools.
- Support CBIM activities implemented in schools.
- Provides overall support in the implementation of school-based HIV prevention activities.
- Builds technical skills in HIV prevention, as well as strengthening organizational capacity to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of HIV prevention services.
- Collaborate with other partners implementing activities in schools
- Conduct Regular Impact assessment of activities done to facilitate the production of success stories.
- Build and maintain relations with schools, communities, and stakeholders by providing nonselective SBPI services.
- Monitor School Based Prevention Interventions and provide constructive feedback.
- Planning the implementation of HIV prevention services as per the approved work plans and budgets.
- Ensures timely reporting of priority related activities, monitoring, and analysis of results against set targets, and use of data to adjust implementation strategies as necessary.
- Provides ongoing support to M&E officers in monitoring and reporting of HIV prevention activities to CIDRZ and other relevant stakeholders.
- Any other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Degree in Gender, education, Public Health, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences or a related field, with specific emphasis on community-level health promotion and/or education.
- Training and knowledge in community HIV/AIDS prevention and working with Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).
- A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a high profile, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) technical issues effectively and persuasively.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in the NGO and HIV environment
- Experience in gender and gender-based violence programming
- Fluency in the local language and English for day-to-day communication.
- Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
