The job holder will be responsible for providing and maintaining an efficient and effective perpetual inventory service (stock takes & checks) in the Company and ensuring that the stock ledger reflects actual physical stocks. This role reports to the Manager – Finance.
Key Accountabilities
What you will be expected to do for successful & optimal performance:
Ensure stocks movements (receipts & issues) are in accordance with procedural requirements.
Analyse price movements of stocks to ensure that they are valued appropriately.
Carry out physical verification of fuels twice a month by ensuring that adequate stocks are available for the smooth operation of the company machinery. i.e., GTAs and motor vehicles.
Ensure that high-value items on the stores’ ledger reflect what is physically in the stores and their valuation is in line with generally accepted accounting principles (IFRS). Any variances in quantities or prices should be investigated and necessary adjustments recommended and brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities.
Closely monitor and reconcile the movement of fuel in operation areas (Mufulira, Kitwe, Luanshya, Chingola, Chililabombwe and Lusaka) by ensuring that pre-paid for fuel is consumed by the company fleet.
By partnering with Supply Chain Management, conduct registration of new Suppliers/Contractors for the company by ensuring that only credible suppliers/contractors are evaluated and brought on board for a competitive base.
Fully participate in the bi-annual supplier/contractor performance assessment in collaboration with respective Supply Chain Management personnel and ensure that the company has a competitive supplier/contractor base.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
Degree in Accounting or Finance Level 2 ACCA or CIMA.
Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
Minimum 2 years practical experience in a dynamic records management environment.
Specific Competencies
Ability to keep abreast of accounting best practices and new standards, concepts, tools, techniques, and technologies.
Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience of accounting systems, processes, and financial reporting.
Knowledge of cost and management accounting including budgeting and forecasting.
Ability to understand the sources of risk and evaluate the risks and methods of their control and mitigation.
Excellent numeracy, literacy, and IT skill especially MS Excel.
