Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the Northwestern region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km southwest of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Coordinator – Condition Monitoring
Role Summary
Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, your duties will include but not limited to the following;
Responsibilities
- Develop, and manage the process plant condition monitoring requirements, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, strain gauging, thickness testing and any other relevant condition monitoring requirements.
- Manage equipment surface protection i.e., rubber lining, Ceramic tiling and steel structures sandblasting and painting etc.
- Coordinate and manage the schedules for the statutory inspection of process plant air receivers.
- Coordinate and supervise conveyor belts maintenance activities
- Liaise with others to maximise production and maintenance effectiveness.
- Assist in preparation of equipment maintenance and spare part strategies plus develop systems to keep them up to date.
- To coordinate ongoing training to improve skill levels of plant maintenance employees
- To develop and implement safety and work procedure systems to provide a safe work environment
- To ensure that maintenance activities are managed efficiently with a view to cost and production, and in accordance with sound work management procedures
- To play the key role in scheduling and coordinating plant shutdowns and major component change outs.
- Drive the development and utilization of best practice of maintenance Business processes.
- Assist in the development of a continuous improvement culture within the section
Experience & Qualifications
- Diploma /Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Member of EIZ and EngRB.
- Hold a valid Zambian driver’s license
- Minimum of 3years experience in condition monitoring focused fixed plant equipment, with 2 years at similar level or higher.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and one that leads by example
- Demonstrated experience working with OEM’s and managing contracts
- Demonstrated experience in asset management, project management and cost management
- Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination
- Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness
- Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.

- High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia.
