Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL) is jointly owned by Nava Bharat Singapore Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH plc. The Company owns and operates a large scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300 Mega Watt Coal fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.
Maamba Collieries Limited is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who wants to build a career in a large and professionally managed company located at Maamba, Sinazongwe District, Southern Province. The position on offer is: –
1. Civil Engineer (1 position)
The successful candidate will be part of the Civil Department. The selected candidate will report to the Senior Civil Manager. The job offers an attractive package and other conditions of service that are commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare budgetary proposals in line with the plan; Prepare estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or Labour to determine project feasibility and;
- Prepare purchase requisitions for approval; Schedule material and equipment purchases and deliveries in conjunction with the procurement and stores department respectively and; Maintain inventory of fixtures and fittings as required
- Supervise the execution of civil works including site supervision and logistics arrangements; Make sure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety and assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects and; Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards and;
- Monitor daily man power and check attendance for all staff; Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances;
- Ensure cleanliness and good hygiene of workplace and; Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting

Qualifications and Skills
- Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent
- Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent
- 4 years’ experience in construction with two years at supervisory level and;
- Experienced user of MS Office (Word, Excel and Power point) and a design and draft software packages such as AUTOCAD.
- Experience in a mining company will be an added advantage.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
2. Mine Automobile Workshop Engineer (1 position)
The successful candidates will be part of the Mining Department, and will be heading the team which is required to manage the Company’s fleet of Heavy Equipment Machinery and Light Vehicles. The selected candidates will report to the Mine Mechanical Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Manage, organize and efficiently control a large size automobile and mechanical workshop.
- Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities.
- Perform trouble-shooting and diagnostics procedures on Light vehicles and Heavy Equipment Machinery.
- Plan and organize a Preventive Maintenance System and scheduled maintenance of Heavy Equipment Machinery and Light Motor Vehicles.
- Forecast and order spare parts for specific jobs/special jobs or for stocks replenishment.

- Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent
- At least 8- 10 years post qualifying experience in automobile workshops.
- Experience in a mining company will be an added advantage.

- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
3. Stores Assistant (2 positions)
Purpose of the Role:
An incumbent at this level will perform routine manual and clerical functions in receiving, handling, storing stock. Work shall be performed in accordance with instructions and procedures received from Stores Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in counting and recording inventory
- Checks stocks against packing slips or invoices determining if there are shortages, damages and missing goods.
- To ensure stock is placed in designated storage area
- Off-loads material ensuring that items are received in accordance with shipping (Bill of lading, Delivery slip) documents.
- Posting of processed demand sheets in the system
- Receipt & Issue of Stores material and documentation

Qualifications and skills:

- At least Diploma in Purchasing and Supply or Stores Management.
- At least three years’ relevant experience.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy.
