About the Payroll Administrator role
The Payroll Administrator—in collaboration with one other Payroll Administrator on the Global Operations team—will independently own and operate numerous systems and procedures that facilitate the smooth functioning of global payroll and compensation processes. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for administering monthly payroll efficiently and accurately on a regular schedule, for 5+ office and project countries. As needed, and often in collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, the Payroll Administrator will be charged with improving the functionality of these processes.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Analytics and frequently collaborating with our current Payroll Administrator and other IDinsight teams (Regional Operations, Finance, Administrative), the Payroll Administrator will lead:

Payroll Management: Design, document, and implement payroll systems, many of which are built in-house and custom to IDinsight. We want someone who will oversee global payroll in 5+ countries for 100+ teammates; ensure all salary and tax payments are accurate and timely, and; regularly look to improve, automate, and systematize payroll processes.

Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and submit all necessary payroll, tax, and compliance filings. This teammate will also play a key role in compensation-related analyses and projections for senior-level stakeholders in the organization.

Legal Compliance: Ensure that all compensation procedures and tax and statutory contribution payments are compliant with local regulations by staying up-to-date on federal, state, and city employment laws and tax codes, where applicable.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree;
1-3 years of professional experience in a human resources, operations, accounting, or finance role;
Advanced ability in Excel and/or Google Sheets;
Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
Passionate about global development and social impact;
Detail-oriented and able to execute multi-faceted, procedural tasks with a high amount of autonomy;
Keen eye for accuracy in data-entry and validation;
Strong ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality in complex situations, and handle sensitive information, data, and issues with mature and discreet professionalism;
People-focused and people-facing, with high levels of empathy and desire to listen to and share in teammates’ victories, concerns, and needs;
Strong desire for professional growth and development, with willingness to give and receive frequent and candid feedback;
Ability to work with international, cross-cultural, and diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience working with international payroll, income taxation, and business compliance;
Knowledge of HR and compensation best practices, philosophies, and latest research, for both the nonprofit and private sectors;
Experience in designing, automating, and documenting business systems and processes, especially those in HR and people operations;
Experience working with the entire Google Suite, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Sites.

Nuts & bolts
Location
This position can be based in IDinsight’s offices in New Delhi, India; Nairobi, Kenya; Lusaka, Zambia; Dakar, Senegal; or Rabat, Morocco. Preference will be given to those who do not require IDinsight to sponsor work authorization; however, IDinsight will seek work permits where possible for exceptional candidates.

Start date
The start date of this position is immediate, with preference for candidates that can start as soon as possible. We expect a 2-year minimum commitment, with regular professional development conversations and potential for a long-term career at IDinsight.

Work authorization

IDinsight is able to sponsor employment visas in some countries; however, we will prioritize candidates who do not require IDinsight to sponsor work authorization. All candidates who are not currently located in our countries listed above will be expected to relocate to their office locations at the onset of their employment.
