Lubambe Copper Mine is located within the Greater Konkola Area of the Zambian Copperbelt and consists of a large–scale mining license covering an area of approximately 228 square kilometres.
Completed and commissioned in 2012, Lubambe is an underground operation supported by a shaft and decline access with a 2.5 million tonne per annum capacity ore concentrator. The mine’s current depth is 450 meters producing a high-grade copper concentrate which is then treated at Zambian smelters.
The mine currently employs 718 direct employees and a further 1,966 contractors. It places the highest priority on safety with a world-class safety system.
Supporting local communities and suppliers is a key business focus of the mine.
EMR Capital owns an 80% controlling interest in Lubambe while ZCCM-IH owns 20%.
The Mine seeks to employ an experienced and qualified individual in the following position:
DRAUGHTSMAN (x1)
This position reports to the Chief Surveyor.
Core Purpose of the Position
This position is responsible for maintaining an updated underground Actual Workings Plan and Surface Plan according to legal requirements and prepares drawings for other departments on the mine that require skills of the Draughtsman.
Key Performance Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is):
- Work hand in hand with all Technical Services sections and satisfy their draughting requirements (Survey, Geology, Mine Planning and Strata Control.
- Monitor and administer CAD usage such as Bentley, software updates and training of on boarders.
- Responsible for the drawing room and hardware such as the Plotters and other drawing aids.
- Responsible for accurate daily updates and plotting of profiles, lasers, wall stations from surveyor’s data consolidation into Deswik and Amine Software.
- Responsible for updating the 3D as-builts of the underground workings.
- Prepare detailed and accurate excavation and trenching permitting plans on the mine.
- Update all underground mine plans including MSD plans in CAD.
- Maintain and update Survey data in the MDM package for 3D modelling; database management of survey files, generate stope as-builts in Deswik and Amine.
- Update composite stope plans and stope database system including historical survey.
- Update GIS database for surface plans.
- Carry out Volumetric calculations of stockpiles from provided survey data.
- Processing of drone survey data and map creation in GIS or equivalent.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Surveyor.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering/ Diploma in Surveying.
- Must have a strong understanding of the Mining software packages such as Bentley V8, Deswik, Datamine, Surpac.
- Ability to design, understand Project Engineering, Project Management and Project Estimation.
- 8 years’ experience in the Mining and construction industry.
- Experience as a mine surveyor will be added advantage.
