Human Rights Commission
The Human Rights Commission is a National Human Rights Institution established under Article 230 (i) of the Constitution of Zambia with a broad mandate of ensuring that the Bill of Rights is upheld and protected.
The Commission is hereby inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position.
JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL LEGAL COUNSEL SALARY GRADE: HRC/H STATION: HEAD OFFICE
Reporting to: Chief Investigations and Legal Services
Qualifications and Experience
(a) The candidate must be a Zambian with a minimum age of 25 years
(b) Must have a law Degree
(c) Must be an advocate of the High Court of Zambia and
(d) Must have 3 years post-admission experience in legal work
Duties
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Investigations and Legal Services and will be responsible for:
(a) Providing and co-ordinating the timely provision of legal advice to the Commission
(b) Facilitating appropriate interpretation and application of the law.
(c) Undertaking and recommending appropriately the review of existing legislation in order to remove provisions which are incompatible with the constitution, others and international human rights standards and
(d) Supervising effectively human and other resources in order to facilitate the attainment of the Department’s objectives
