This entry-level professional photojournalist assists with capturing video, photo, and other creative content to highlight the work of Compassion’s programs within a given program/country. The photojournalist further provides creative assistance within a highly collaborative team environment with a strong emphasis on partnership with international Compassion offices. At this level the incumbent may still be learning and assisting with projects for his or her assigned location and generally works under the guidance of her or his supervisor or a more experienced photojournalist or as a team member on larger projects.
Responsibilities
Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
Responds to assignments to gather content from Compassion programs in the field to use in response to communication strategies and goals. Searches and proposes video, photography, and other creative options for consideration.
Contributes to video and/or photo acquisition and editing projects. Follows the parameters outlined in project creative briefs to assist with productions and/or photojournalism projects to promote and expand Compassion’s ministry opportunities.
Assists with coordination and compilation of potential media/story leads and content ideas received from Compassion staff around the world.
As directed, assists with the production of results-oriented, effective, brand-building digital content that support and strengthen Compassion’s marketing strategy.
Works creatively within the brand standards to maintain the integrity, distinction, and consistency of the Compassion brand by adhering to the organization’s brand standards and guidelines.
Assists with timely coordination of creative content during regional and country specific times of crisis and disaster situations. May provide support to other specialists traveling to affected country to act as a local videographer or photojournalist.
As assigned, assists with some editorial content and short stories to share and support the work of Compassion and highlight the work of the churches and programs in the field.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
