Howard University international incorporated under the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Global Health Consortium (GHC) is a PEPFAR funded Non-Governmental Organization that Leverages on health service equity approaches to achieve sustainable HIV epidermic control and prioritizes sub population with unmet needs through evidence-based approaches designed to transform clinical HIV practice.
Howard University’s mandate in Zambia is to support the Ministry of Health (MOH) in implementation of Differentiated Service Delivery (DSD-plus) in selected high-volume public health care facilities. The goal of this mandate is to improve Quality of ART care, improve viral load coverage and suppression, continuity of treatment & adherence, linkage to care, pharmacovigilance system, compliance with appointment system and to facilitate clinic decongestion through a multi-disciplinary team approach.
Position description: HUI seeks reliable and highly experienced candidates for the position of Project Driver to be based in Lusaka, Copperbelt and Southern provinces of Zambia. S/he will work closely with the Finance and Administration team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drive assigned project vehicles and ensure the safety of passengers
- Project vehicles remain clean and in excellent working condition at all times
- Inspection of vehicles before driving such as checking of coolant, oil, brake fluid, tyres, brakes etc
- Timely and accurate updates in log books and fuel analysis reports in order to enhance accountability
- Ensure any defects are reported and consequently acted upon
- Update all vehicle documents such as car registration and insurance
- Ensure vehicle checklist is signed by recipient at handover
- Adhering to National and Organizational policies and regulations regarding driving and vehicle use respectively
- Perform other administrative tasks on behalf of the project including but not limited to: purchasing, collecting goods, documents or mail, making administrative arrangements and handling payments
- Provision of courteous support to visitors and partners
- Any other tasks assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and requirements:
- Minimum grade 12 Certificate; related additional qualifications a plus
- Valid and clean Driver’s class C License or better
- Over 5 years driving experience with three (3) years’ experience working as a driver.
- Experience with International Non-Governmental Organizations is preferred
- Ability to operate basic office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and telecom equipment
- Basic computer skills required including familiarity with email and word processing. Ability to use excel spreadsheets is also preferred
- Good interpersonal and time management skills and ability to work as part of a fast paced team
- Presentable and able to interact professionally
