Profile
Yara Fertilizer Zambia Limited is looking to fill the permanent position of a General Manager – Zambia Cluster.

Area of responsibility: Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi.

Living location: Lusaka.

Reporting to: Senior Commercial Manager – Southern Africa.

Role and Responsibilities
To drive the Yara Zambia Cluster; (Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi) commercial sales, small scale sales, agronomy, marketing, financial, administrative strategy/targets, under the guidance of the Senior Commercial Manager – Southern Africa. To own the Yara Zambia Cluster operations & supply chain, under the guidance of the Senior Commercial Manager – Southern Africa.

Performance and Strategy: Responsible for the overall Zambia Cluster bottom line performance and strategy implementation in line with Africa Business Unit plan, to continue building a sustainable business.

Commercial and Small Scale Sales: Oversee and manage the commercial and small scale sales objectives within the assigned Africa Business Unit guidelines and budgets. Oversee and manage the customer and product portfolio, seeking opportunities for sales growth in the region, in coordination with Africa Business Unit goals and objectives and with emphasis on sustainable growth of Premium and Differentiated products.

Agronomy: Oversee and manage the agronomic technical support strategies for various sectors and clients withing the Zambia Cluster to a world without hunger and a planet respected.

Operations & Supply Chain: Own procurement planning, operational and logistics (supply) objectives within the assigned Africa Business Unit guidelines and budgets. Responsible for the improvement of operational, supply and stock efficiency to provide higher capital returns.

Marketing: Contribute to and implement the Yara developed Farming Solutions within the Zambia Cluster. Contribute to and implement digital development and platforms in line with Africa Business Unit digital strategy.

Financial and Administrative: Drive EBITDA and financial improvement in line with Africa Business Unit strategy and goals.

Additional Requirements

Represent the Zambia Cluster by building productive relationships, in a diverse and inclusive manner, whilst applying principles of integrity towards both internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to synergy between departments across Southern Africa to ensure optimisation of strategic and operational requirements. Provide a safe, engaging and inclusive workplace. Develop, lead, manage and enhance the Human Resources assets and talent pool within the Zambia Cluster. Assume the position of Data Privacy Responsible for the Zambia Cluster and ensure compliance to the Yara Data Privacy principles. Assume responsibility for lawful and ethical business processes in accordance to best practices and policy compliance i.e. HESQ and Ethics and Compliance. Drive, enact and instill the Yara Mission and Values amongst internal and external stakeholders.

Functional Knowledge
Yara Business Model, Product Market, Procurement Planning, Operations and Logistics Southern Africa Regulatory requirements.

Competencies
Practical application and continuous improvement of general management principles and skills to achieve Africa Business Unit goals, making sure all involved parties understand why tasks are performed and what the consequences of their actions are.

Business Expertise, Leadership, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Skills
Proficiency in corporate and results orientated business requirements (planning, forecasting, marketing & sales, risk management and contracting), relevant to General Management within Yara Code of Ethics and Corporate Governance.

Self-directed and the ability to make independent decisions for the Zambia Cluster, within the boundaries of Africa Business Unit strategy and budget.

Analysis, judgment and provision of solutions to the day to day challenges within the Zambia Cluster. Analysis and provision of recommendations to forecasting and future Africa Business Unit Strategy.

Communication: Ability to communicate well and be able to explain instructions for accurate execution. Influencing others: Ability to influence and motivate others to work together in achieving set Goals and Key Performance Indicators. Transparent Communication and Listening skills by encouraging openness and honesty and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications and Experience
A relevant Business Degree or a proven record of extensive executive and top management experience.

Minimum of 05 years executive and top management experience with previous exposure to Yara Management being an advantage.
