Job Description: Reporting directly to the University Registrar, the successful applicant will assume primary responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of all academic programs, and personnel. The Dean for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences fosters, supports and enhances a Student-centred academic environment that embodies the Rockview University mission and vision that all tcaching be done with proficiency and excellence. In this regard, the successful applicant for this position has the responsibility of recruiting and retaining well qualified staff that will help further the University’s mission as well as ensuring that all programs meet the requirements set by regulatory bodies such as Health Professional Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ),

The successful applicant will be responsible for the following:
• Create collaborations with medical institutions such as Hospitals
• Enhancing the University’s profile, resource streams, and engagement with alumni and the community.
• Ensuring effective management of financial resources including budget planning and management.
• Developing, managing and implementing the faculty strategie plan and aligning it to the University strategic plan.
• Directing personnel recruitment, review, and development
• Participate in the development of the University’s academic calendar
• Spearhead the review and improvement of all Medical Programs
• Attend matters relating to the academic affairs of students within the school
• Represent the University appropriately by chairing or serving on internal and external committees as required.
• Attend disciplinary cases for both stailand students.
• Manage staff under him her by encouraging them to continuously improve their qualifications to ensure that they are effective in the execution of their duties.
• Supporting high quality teaching, faculty research, and creative and professional activities.
• Fostering academic planning and innovative curricular and scholarly development.
• Encouraging research grants, expanded advancement effort, and public/private partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master of Medicine and Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery
• A minimum of 5-10 (five to ten) years’ experience in a similar capacity or senior academic level
• Member of HPCZ and must be very familiar with requirements of HPCZ.
• Proficiency in computer application systems and databases Unquestionable professional integrity, stature and abilities
• Ability to function under pressure
