The Grants Writer will be responsible for conducting full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant and commercial Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and reports.
The Grants Writer serves as an essential member of the sales team by aligning the grant & RFP programme with the organization’s overarching sales plan.
Recruirements:
1. Experience:
- 2+ years of experience responding to grants and/or RFPs from large firms and government organizations, coupled with strong writing skills.
- Proven experience of pro-actively prospecting for grant/RFP opportunities is required.
- Additional direct sales experience is an advantage.
2. Aptitude:
- Computer literate & tech-savvy – e.g., able to use MS Office, Gmail, & etc.
- A driver’s license or be willing to obtain one within the probation period.
- Public speaking and good presentation skills are required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Being an avid reader, outside of education and entertainment, is another advantage.
- Strong literacy (comprehension) and English language spoken and business writing skills are required.
- Ability to manage deadlines efficiently and work independently.
- Strong critical thinking ability.
3. Attributes:
- Must be passionate about grant/RFP writing and resilient to failure and rejection.
- A self-starter who will take responsibility for their own work and can work on their own as well as part of a team.
- Candidates who have a proven record of being able to ‘hustle’ are preferred.
- Honesty & integrity are key.
- Must have emotional intelligence and be able to build meaningful relationships with other people.
- Natural confidence and courage are required of candidates.
- Being able to operate effectively in both Zambia and diverse multicultural environments is required.
- Candidates must demonstrate that they are able to be self-driven learners under mentorship from management.
- Respectfully exerts influence – i.e. can give clear instructions, takes charge of the conversations, and leads with clarity
Qualifications:
- Tertiary education. Diploma required. Degree an added advantage.
- Persons between the ages of 28 and 35 are encouraged to apply.
- Added experience in best-practice Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is an advantage.
