The Zambia Institute of Mass Communications (ZAMCOM) was established under the ZAMCOM Act of Parliament of 1996 to provide Communications and Media training and production services. ZAMCOM has recently been undergoing a corporate renewal and is currently implementing a new strategic plan aiming at positioning the organization to becoming financially viable and independent.
ZAMCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill in the following position;
IT OFFICER
Reporting to the Academic & Training Manager
Job purpose
To provide ICT Services and support to Members of Staff and Students which entails installing, upgrading and repairing ICT related equipment and software in the Institution including various practical sites.
Main Duties
Manage ZAMCOM’s Internet, LAN & WAN connectivity and services.
Provide specialist advice to Management on IT policy issues and monitor trends and developments in Information Technology in order to ensure that systems used by the institution are in line with current developments.
Maintain the Institutional websites.
Plan/Design and manage IT systems for both ZAMCOM Trust and ZAMCOM Lodge, source IT systems, and install software and hardware to meet institutional needs.
Maintains and documents accurate information/data (topology maps) regard the network (LAN/WAN) and other IT Infrastructure.
Prepare the IT annual budget and once approved, monitor subsequent expenditure.
Maintain and manage all IT learning and management systems of the institution.
Hardware maintenance for IT infrastructure and Troubleshoot infrastructure and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults to minimize systems down-time and ensure smooth running of all IT systems.
Adhere to Change, incident and problem management procedures and policies.
Responsible for regularly updating the IT asset register in terms of modification, additions and transfers of IT assets.
To archive electronic data
Maintain current inventory records of computer hardware, related components, and their status.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Full Grade Twelve Certificate
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information technology, or similar preferred.
Minimum 3 years working experience in IT Infrastructure & Networks.
Problem solving skills
Solid Knowledge of computer hardware and software (desktops, laptops, tablets, printers), communication hardware and software, Access control systems etc.
Knowledge of computer networking, performance monitoring, asset management, ticketing/service desk systems
Ability to install, maintain, modify, and upgrade server, software & amp; Hardware i.e., OS, firewalls, antivirus
Exceptional analytical, verbal- and written- communication skills
