Manager, Communications or Communications Manager
Reporting directly to the Executive: Sustainability & Corporate Affairs, the Manager, Communications (or the Communications Manager) is responsible for internal and external communications for the business.
Responsibilities:
- Implement sustainable communications initiatives and ESG / corporate social responsibility strategies to enhance corporate brand awareness of the business
- Work closely with senior management to develop specific communication strategies, and to develop, implement, oversee and evaluate an integrated communications plan
- Oversee the production of communication materials including internal and external monthly newsletters for outreach to critical stakeholders to the business
- Manage website and develop social media strategies together with digital and creative teams
- Identify opportunities and build a social media presence for a variety of clients’ groups and stakeholders
- Plan, implement and manage all media events for the business
- Develop strong relationships with media stakeholders through initiative aimed sustainable two-way engagement between the business and the media industry
- Manage relationship with media/PR agencies including ensuring quality output delivery and on budget
- Project management activities, such as gathering communication requirements, targeting the right message and audience, budgeting, reporting and meeting required timelines
- Driving understanding of business stakeholder engagement needs across the organisation
- Scoping and defining internal and external stakeholder engagement need for the business
- Nurturing a healthy two-way engagement process with target audiences internally
- Ensuring the business’ brand values are embedded into all communication deliverables
- Establishing and managing a network of communications champions across the business
- Measuring and monitoring effectiveness and impact of communication interventions
- Developing and publishing relevant material for various communication channels such as intranet, newsletter, bulletins, social media platforms
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field
- MBA an added advantage
- Minimum three years of work-related experience in communications and public relations with a strong ability to write, edit and research
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications
- Professional level skills in proposal and publications development with writing and editing experience
- Formal media training a definite asset
- Website development and maintenance experience an asset
- Detail oriented, ability to manage projects with proven success record
- ·Self-starter, driven, creative, and passionate; strong desire to learn, work and grow in a challenging and ever-changing environment
- Passionate about social media and solid experience in social media and Blog development
- Able to handle and analyse large volume of data
- Digital communications experience
- Experienced in using WordPress, HTML and Google Analytics an advantage
