Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
The pit optimization engineer is responsible for a wide range of operational tasks including performance reviews, reporting and improvement projects across mining the mining departments. The role constantly monitors operation efficiencies and works with all departments to optimize the production process through projects and implantation of relevant initiatives.
Specific Job Responsibility
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;
Work with the optimization team to develop, implement and monitor business improvements.
Actively seek to develop new ideas and initiatives that have the potential to provide the company with efficiency, cost reduction and productivity opportunities.
Support technical, production, safety, training, services, commercial and maintenance teams with reporting and projects.
Develop and maintain safe and effective work practices and procedures throughout.
Any other tasks as may be delegated upon by the supervisor.
Experience & Qualification
At least 3 years’ mining related experience.
Prior Pit planning Experience
Full Grade 12 Certificate
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
Job Specific Competencies
Advanced Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point.
Familiar with SQL, data management and reporting.
Competent with basic Surpac or similar CAD Application
Competent at engineering analysis
