JOB PURPOSE
To provide operation and technical support of the Mobile Access Radio Network and operational support on a 24/7/365 for Airtel Zambia customers.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
• Coordinate and manage RAN on a 24x7x365 basis (always on call).
• Maintain Radio Network Availability (RNA) for customers, reducing Meantime to Restore (MTTR) for all service affecting outages and alarms.
• Ensuring Airtel Zambia Mobile Access infrastructure and equipment meets the Service Quality expectations of Airtel Zambia’s customers including availability, capacity, throughput and success rates.
• Ensure that Radio Access Network is appropriately managed from a spare parts management perspective by supporting the critical spares processes and providing appropriate budget forecasts.
• Operational vendor management of key RAN operational services.
• Manage the workload and priorities of the Active and passive equipment Vendors ensuring Airtel Zambia customers’ expectations are met.
• Organise and motivate teams and suppliers to respond to major system problems or incidents.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills:
• A degree in Telecom Engineering or the equivalent.
• IP Literate. Cisco CCNA /CCNP a must.
• An in depth understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and RAN architecture, networks, signaling and protocols.
• A thorough understanding of software upgrade procedures and processes, experience of Field Operations, 1st and 2nd line O&M process and procedures.
Relevant Experience:
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in Telecommunications of which 2 years should be in a management role in an operations related field.
• Proven experience working in Radio networks as well as shaping and leading a current and constantly evolving technology agenda.
• A robust understanding of the business, financial management, regulatory environment, and external influences to ensure effective strategic decision-making.
• Prudent and efficient management of OPEX budgets such as Return & Repair process and NFA for spares.
