Key Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities

The GBV Specialist will provide technical support on the following:

Prevention technical support

  • Provide technical leadership in the implementation of transformative and behavioral change approaches being used on the PREVENT! SGBV project including SASA!, Channels of Hope for Gender (CoHG), Young Men as Equal Partners (YMEP) and Communication for Development (C4D)
  • Identify and reinforce existing GBV prevention and support mechanisms, and work closely with relevant key staff and partners to ensure continued community buy-in and sustainability of activities;
  • Strengthen synergy between SGBV Prevention and Response in accordance to international SGBV international guidelines

Social and Behavioral change and communication (SBCC)

  • Lead the development or contextualization of globally recognized IEC materials for SGBV prevention to address project needs
  • Coordinate with project staff and other relevant stakeholders to ensure holistic prevention and support strategies for GBV survivors, including participation in strengthening current referral pathways Contribute to review of training materials/manuals on SGBV prevention.

M&E Support

  • Ensure monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, including tracking progress of prevention program objectives, indicators and activities are being followed, organized and documented.
  • Provide timely advisory support in the design and or revision of GBV prevention tools and strategies Contribute to periodic quality report writing, annual work plans, project briefs and documentation as and when required. Work with the M&E team in strengthening ways on how to capture contribution to prevention of GBV in targeted areas of the project.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/MA in Gender and social development, social work, sociology, psychology, public health, and relevant fields of social sciences
  • Minimum of 5 years of GBV programming with a focus on GBV prevention in either development or humanitarian setting.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing GBV trainings for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Extensive training in the fields of GBV programming including; GBV Core Concepts, GBV Global minimum standards, GBV risk mitigation, SASA!, male engagement and adolescent programming.
  • Strong experience in GBV prevention programming including SASA!, Adolescent programming, safe space interventions, male engagement, risk mitigation and SBCC.
