Risk and Compliance Officer Hitachi Construction Machinery Zambia Co. Ltd.

Purpose of the role:
To ensuring that all corporate Processes and Procedures comply with the law and with internal Company standards. The Risk and Compliance Officer will also be responsible for coordinating with any certification audits as well as Company Risk and Assurance.

Reports to: Risk and Compliance Manager
Branch: Lusaka

Key Responsibilities:
The Compliance Officer will be required to perform the following tasks:

Internal Compliance

  • Assist the Risk and Compliance Manager in assisting departments in establishing Standard Operating Procedures across the business;
  • Assist the Risk and Compliance Manager in developing risk management strategies;
  • Ensure compliance of internal standards and procedures by conducting random checks;
  • Ensure internal changes to compliance regulations are executed on time;
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing Internal procedures;
  • Assist in ensuring Compliance with legislative requirements (local, imports & exports).

Legal and Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist in ensuring the company complies with all legal and regulatory frameworks, including Export control;
  • Ensure Compliance to relevant legislation.

Audits and Assurance

  • Assist liaising with external auditors, were applicable;
  • Conduct internal audits as may be required from time to time.

Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure monthly reports on compliance are made accurately and on time to the Compliance Manager.
  • Ensure queries are attended to with relevant urgency
  • Compliance with legislative requirements Regular reports to Risk and Compliance Manager
  • Ensure queries are resolved quickly and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 School certificate.
  • Minimum of an Advance Diploma in Finance, Business Studies.
  • Experience in process management, internal audit or Regulatory, Legal and Compliance Management.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience.

  • Business knowledge and Regulation knowledge
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to work with large volumes of data
  • Ability to manage and priorities work
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
  • Accounting and Auditing
