Background
Lusaka Child Development Agency (LCDA) is a Zambian Non-Governmental organization that is child and youth-centered. Lusaka Child Development Agency works in partnership with Childfund Zambia to facilitate and promote active engagement of communities, children, and youths so as to become prime agents of their own growth. LCDA envisions a community with a positive and sustainable environment for the deprived, excluded, and vulnerable children.
Job Purpose:
To lead, direct, manage and be accountable for the operations of Lusaka Child Development Agency and oversee quality implementation and delivery of strong core programs and achieve the goals of LKCDA strategic plan.
Accountability
The Federation Manager is accountable in the first instance to the LKCDA Board and in the second instance to the Programmes Manager at ChildFund.
Major Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the development and implementation of the LKCDA strategic plan.
- Manage and develop competent and committed human resource that is fully aware of its roles and responsibilities in accordance with the internal policies and procedures coupled with fostering of team spirit.
- Take the lead in the implementation and delivery of high-quality programmes in accordance with the LKCDA strategic plan and related program designs. Ensure that monitoring, evaluation, documentation, learning and continuous improvements are an integral part of the implementation of each program in the LKCDA operational areas.
- Lead the development and implementation of a resource mobilization strategy to support the aspirations and growth of LKCDA.
- Ensure that all necessary agreements (or equivalent) are in place to ensure legal operations in the area.
- Ensure that annual Operational plans and Budgets (AOPBs) for LKCDA are developed timely and budgets are spent according to approved AOPBs while observing and implementing strict internal financial controls.
- Ensure that audit ratings continuously improve and audit findings are followed up and implemented properly in a timely manner.
- Build positive and productive contacts and relations within the community, district, provincial and national governments and donors.
- Build and manage relationships with other organizations to optimize marketing and grant funding opportunities for LKCDA.
- Provide leadership in the efficient sponsorship management of LKCDA.
- Advise LKCDA Board on governance and administrative issues and act as a secretary to the Board.
- After appropriate discussions, undertake any duties delegated or assigned by the Board and or Programmes Manager at Childfund in furtherance of LKCDA goals.
- Child Safeguarding: Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy. Assist partners to adopt and rollout out their own Child Safeguarding policies and processes.
Qualifications/Abilities:
- University degree in development studies, Social Work, Project Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, or any other social-economic development-related qualification. The post-graduate degree will be an added advantage.
- Candidates must have at least five (5) years of working experience in a management position in a development-orientated organization.
- Candidate must demonstrate experience in programming, communication, financial management, human resource management, and budgetary control.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experienced and skilled in resource mobilization and fundraising.
- Open to new ideas and a result-oriented person who would lead the organization to achieve its goals and objectives.
- People management skills and ability to drive the team to achieve set objectives with minimal supervision and with a good network with other organizations and government departments/ministries to acquire new ideas.
- Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be willing to relocate to Lusaka
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
