KALEYA SMALLHOLDERS COMPANY LIMITED, a farming organisation based in Mazabuka producing sugar cane from a nucleus Estate and Smallholders settlement, invites applications from suitably qualified Zambians to fill the following position:
Workshop Foreman (1 Position)
Reporting to the Smallholders and Operations Officer, the Workshop Foreman will manage the workshop in conjunction with his/ her team of artisan craftsmen. He/she will ensure that the entire fleet of farm vehicles/ heavy duty equipment, graders, tippers, diggers, generators, motorbikes, small engines, trailers, mowers and implements are kept in running order at all times.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure that the entire fleet is in excellent running condition all the time for maximum equipment availability.
- Conduct scheduled maintenance on all company vehicles, equipment,
- implements, generators, machinery, etc.
- To carry out daily checks on equipment as per checklist, prevent and repair defects.
- Supervise and conduct all vehicle repairs and outsource in terms of organizational limited capacity.
- Works with outsourced mechanical service providers.
- To fault find and repair equipment up to standard.
- Ensure the fleet is licensed and insured according to Zambian legislative requirements.
- Coordinate all workshop operations in conjunction with departmental head.
- Organises effective road maintenance and repairs.
- Supervise the team of artisans in the workshop.
- Ensure good housekeeping and maintain highest level of safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechanics/ Heavy Equipment Repair
- Should have a valid driving licence.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role, preferably on an agricultural operation will be an added advantage.
- Must be computer literate (particularly in Microsoft Office Suite)
- Must be below 50 years.
- Must be a registered Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
