We currently have career opportunities in the following fields to be based in Kitwe.
1. Assets Manager
This role will be responsible for managing all Operation and Maintenance dimensions of a group of solar assets, in line with the CEC Group strategic direction. The role will also oversee all the aspects relevant to the assets’ performance, including technical, financial, corporate and social responsibility perspectives and to maximise revenue generation and operational capability over the life of the assets. The job holder will be reporting to the CEC Renewables Limited Board of Directors.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the contracts of the Company (i.e., O&M contract, PPA) to ensure that assets are operating in line with contractual obligations.
- Review and enhance maintenance strategies and activities aiming to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency/ production to meet or exceed the business plan.
- Manage compliance of the assets and mitigation measures required by the regulatory or local authorities.
- Identify & establish the necessary KPIs to monitor the performance of each asset, with proactive early detection & resolution of issues to ensure that O&M performance targets are achieved.
- Supervise and monitor performance O&M contractors and external consultants involved in preparation and execution of O&M activities to ensure all contracted SLAs are met or bettered.
- Undertake regular (twice/month) visits to Company sites to assess the status and condition of the solar farms.
- Develop and maintain management tools including Operating Plans, Asset Registers, and other management tools as necessary.
- Monitor the punch list items resulting from the construction works and optimize project performance.
- Provide input to the CEC Group for setting-up O&M solutions, interactions with potential contractors/other parties or negotiating O&M agreements before financial close of future projects.
- Initiate claims against contractors or manufacturers if necessary and declare claims to insurers in case of incidents and ensure follow-up.
- Ensure all assets comply with all relevant statutory and domestic regulations, including safety, environmental & social performance.
- Plan and implement a budget within CEC Group guidelines and ensure budget discipline and optimisation of resources.
- Prepare regular asset management reports on each asset for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with relevant agreements.
To be considered for this role, you will be required to have:
- Degree in Engineering or Commercial field from a reputable institution;
- Business/Project management qualification would be highly considered; and
- Accreditation to the relevant professional body such EIZ, ZICA etc.
Specific Technical and Behavioral Competencies
- 6 years of professional experience in a similar role in energy asset management.
- Working knowledge & understanding of solar energy plants, associated electrical equipment, auxiliary plant & HV infrastructure.
- Effective leadership and supervision skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Adept troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Technically innovative.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Contract management experience.
- Attention to detail to support review and interpretation of renewable energy contracts and ensure vendor compliance.
- Working knowledge of health, safety & environment requirements.
- Knowledge of financial management fundamentals.
- Proficiency in MS Office and computerised maintenance systems.
- Excellent communication and liaison to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
