Programmes Officer Zambia Academy of Sciences

Under the direction and the control of the Executive Director through the Programmes Manager, the Programmes Officer will be responsible for conception of, technical development, consultancies, implementation and coordination of programmes of the Academy.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Programmes Officer are:

i) Leading and/or initiating projects development including proposal writing and planning with costings;

ii) Serving as one of the key projects contact persons with partners where joint projects are undertaken;

iii) Promote science and its uptake in partnership with Government departments and institutions involved in science, innovation and technology.

iv) Provide liaison support to Zambian institutions involved in the development, advancement, and promotion of science in Zambia;

v) Serve as a liaison person between the ZaAS and local partners in projects implementation;

vi) Facilitate stakeholder consultation with like-minded institutions (such as government-based science institutions and NGOs) in Zambia;

vii) Providing support for the preparatory work for the strengthening of the Zambia Young Academy of Science (ZYAS), and young people involved in science and technology;

Qualifications

Minimum of a Masters’ Degree in science, applied science, technical or social science disciplines.

ii. EXPERIENCE

a) Minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience, in a research/development related institution;

b) Knowledge of project planning, development and implementation management;

c) Knowledge in resource mobilization;

d) Experience in networking especially at local-level;

e) Knowledge of how science academies operate or bilateral multilateral agencies is an added value.
