The welder will fabricate, assemble, and maintain metal structures and equipment using various types of welding machines, cutters, shapers and measuring tools according to customer or employer specifications. He/she will read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints to determine the method of execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and analyses defective production equipment and inform supervisor.
  • Fabricates and assembles metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
  • Uses multiple welding techniques: Arc, Tig and Mig to repair and maintain metal equipment and structures of various sizes.
  • Set ups, operates, and maintains welding equipment.
  • Maintains grinders and performs all cleaning and grinding of metals as needed.
  • Reads and understands blueprints for the location, position, and dimension of fabrication parts.
  • Completes all welding job work orders and other needed maintenance documentation.
  • Organizes and arranges pre-made boiler parts before assembly.
  • Uses scrapers, cleaning solvents and wire brushed to clean vats.
  • Inspects and performs tests on boiler systems to find any defects or leaks.
  • Repair or replace parts such as valves, joints, or pipes, using welding equipment, hand tools, and gas torches.
  • Responsible for ensuring all metal structures are safe and secure.
  • Completes any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to design and construct both metallic and plastic structures from scratch.
  • Knowledge of Yalelo’s Procedures, Processes, Policies and Quality standards
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Equipment & Technology
  • Extensive knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG welding, oxy-fuel welding, and arc welding
  • Skilled in both mechanical and manual welding practices

Minimum Qualification & Experience:

  • Trades Certificate in Engineering (Fabrication) obtained through an apprenticeship or Related Vocational Training
  • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
  • 1-3 Years of Experience as a welder
  • Experience in Engineering Equipment Maintenance and Repair
  • Experience working in an FMCG Industry is an added advantage.
