JOB TITLE: METROLOGIST
JOB PURPOSE
The Metrologist will be responsible for ensuring that the scales of measurement used throughout Mika Meats are consistent, accurate and precise. S/he will do this by testing products, equipment and processes to ensure that they meet the stipulated standards of quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing calibrations on measuring instruments such as weighbridge, normal scales, thermometers and other measuring devices
- Observing the physical characteristics of items being measured to ensure that they are consistent with industry standards and best practice
- Performing quality control checks on manufactured products to ensure that they meet specifications
- Maintaining an inventory of standard measurement tools which are relevant in the entire process.
- Conducting research on new measurement methods or technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy in measuring processes
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining measurement protocols for specific applications
- Conducting laboratory tests to measure physical properties of materials such as density, viscosity, tensile strength, and conductivity
- Using computer software to analyze data from tests to make conclusions about findings
- Repairing damaged measuring instruments by replacing parts or readjusting calibrations
- Reporting on any findings that may not be in conformity with the prescribed standard
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
- Proven working experience as a Metrologist for at least 5 years
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Knowledge of international stipulations in relation to measurements standards as well as Zambian Metrological stipulations and statutes
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills
- Minimum of a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Statistics, Metrology or any other related field. A degree will be an added advantage
