Cost Controller – Lusaka/Mkushi Based Greenbelt Farms Limited

A Cost Controller is responsible for keeping track of the goods and supplies in a store or warehouse and manages orders to facilitate sales or production. The duties include signing off on shipments.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Setting standard costs of crops planted/produced
• Developing and analysing cost standards
• Prepare budgets in conjunction with the production team for summer and winter crops
• Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
• Performing account reconciliations for inventory and accounts payable
• Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
• Prepare financial data related to the production of crops after every cycle
• Compare production volume of the farm with neighboring farms and the region
• Ordering inventory from vendors and suppliers and securing shipment arrival times
• Managing inventory by stocking and cataloguing stock
• Performing quality checks on stored inventory
• Updating inventory count and maintaining inventory records to share with management and other stakeholders in the business
• Entering inventory information (stocks in and out) in real time
• Reporting discrepancies in inventory that indicate theft, such as too little inventory at last count
• Implementing loss prevention programs to prevent theft
• Obtaining estimates and price details from different vendors to compare costs
• Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management
• Any other duties

JOB REQUIREMENT AND SKILLS

• Work Experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role for at least 5 years
• Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with accounting software, like Pastel and ERP
• Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Strong time management skills
• Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study
• Member of a professional body such as CIMA, ACCA,
