Zambia Red Cross Society
The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is a Humanitarian Organization established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament CAP 307 of the laws of Zambia as an auxiliary institution that augments government efforts in humanitarian assistance. ZRCS is part of the International Red Cross movement known as International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In line with its mandate, ZRCS works with various actors in collaboration with Government of Zambia in responding to both man-made and natural disasters. In order to strengthen coordination and management of its Disaster Management, Internal and External activities, ZRCS hereby invites applications from individuals in to take up the positions of Intern – DMM

REPORTING TO: Programme Officer
WORKPLACE Based in Lusaka at ZRCS HQ Offices
EXPECTED DATE OF DEPLOYMENT: July 2023
JOB SUMMARY
The Intern shall be expected to use his/her talents and abilities to support the goals of the Disaster Management department. This will subsequently expose the intern to professional development opportunities and advance in his/her career growth. The intern will be assigned to ECHO project based on the interests and availability in support of the departmental goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist the Programme Officer in the Raising, preparation and execution of all requisitions
2. Assist the Programme Officer in the sourcing of venues for the meetings and workshops in coordination with the Logistics Department.
3. Represent the Disaster Management office when the team is out in the field at all times in a dignified manner
4. Providing administrative and technical support to processes that contribute to implementation of Disaster Management activities
5. Assist the Programme Officer in the Development of field activity reports
6. Assist in the Linking with the ITC officer to ensure field activities and stories from the field are posted on the blogs and other media platforms.
7. Follow ups on the payments and retirements and ensuring all documentation are in place.
8. Follow ups on the financial and other requirements for the field offices
9. Assist the Programme Officer in the timely submission of all retirements to finance.
10. Assist in the Provision of reconciliation, accounting, and supporting documentation from the field
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics,
- or Diploma in Developmental Studies or any other related disciplines.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Ability to understanding technical aspects of Disaster Management
- Ability to understand and use of policies and procedures of ZRCS.
- Ability to analyse and assess the gaps in the reports submitted by the districts
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and managing multiple, competing priorities
- Proficient in computer skills
