Our client, a leading FMCG manufacturing and distribution company, is looking to hire a Sales Manager – Building Materials who will manage the commercial function and drive profitability in the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Zambian and non-Zambian management team to develop brand strategies and promotion plans.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as marketing and operations, to align sales efforts with overall business objectives and ensure seamless customer experiences.
- Coordinate with other departments such as finance, human resources, warehouse, transportation to ensure the smooth implementation of strategy and operation of the business.
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies in the regional market to achieve revenue targets and maximize market share for various product lines.
- Foster a customer-centric culture, ensuring exceptional customer service, timely resolution of customer issues, and continuous improvement of customer satisfaction levels.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand the customer base, and cultivate strong relationships with key customers, contractors, builders, and architects.
- Manage the output and results of the sales team in conjunction with the customer service team and marketing team.
- Be the communication bridge between Non-Zambian and Zambian staff in this commercial space of the business.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze market trends, and identify areas for improvement or growth opportunities.
- Set sales targets, track progress, and provide regular reports to management on sales metrics, forecasts, and market insights.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to proactively adapt sales strategies and capitalize on market opportunities.
- Support the recruitment, management, training, coaching and assessment and improvement of the commercial team.
Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or Commerce.
- Must have at least five years of sales experience in building materials or similar products.
- Must have demonstrable understanding and experience of sales processes, including sales / pricing strategy, lead generation, pipeline management, and sales forecasting.
- Must have strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a sales team to drive exceptional performance.
- Should have in-depth knowledge of the building materials market, including industry trends, products, and customer needs.
- Should have exceptional negotiation and closing skills, with a proven ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships.
- Should have an analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize sales performance and drive business growth.
