Job Description
Responsible for planning and designing of Power and Tower upgrades, fresh installations and optimization requirements across the entire network.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Designing
Preserve profitability by implementing an economically efficient network infrastructure Tower and Power (i.e., Tower and Power required to satisfy availability, coverage, quality, and capacity requirements)Supports the existing infrastructure and assists in the design and deployment of Tower and Power solutions in support of both business and technical initiatives. Maintains knowledge of industry trends and best practices in order to propose solutions to improve the Tower and Power infrastructure.Analyses and resolves difficult technical problemsconcerning Tower and Power infrastructure.Assists Field teams in resolving Tower and Power challenges.
Reporting
Prepares and maintains telecom infrastructure diagrams and other technical documentation in a comprehensive manner.Documents and maintains records of all installation and repair work. Generate and analyze all planning reports and prepare weekly and monthly activity reports.
Project Support
Handover duly signed-off plans to Projects Team for ImplementationTrack project implementation with respect to plans and carry out Site Acceptance
Operations support
Participate in network quality meetings to identify critical network quality issues that require further troubleshooting and analysis for resolution.Identify major network issues through tracking and analyzing KPI’s performance trends in line with INFRATEL network standards.
Budget
Reduce operational costs by effective planning (dimensioning capacity, coverage, resilience, EOL and spares), and provide input into CAPEX and OPEX budgets to ensure savings where possible.
Minimum Qualifications
Grade 12 Certificate
Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or a related field
Member of a professional body in Zambia e.g., EIZ or any relevant body
Key Competencies and Skills
Fully proficient with operational processes and SLAs development
Has sound understanding of Telecommunication technologies, systems & procedures.
Applies broader knowledge of standards to work assignments.
RAN (GSM, UMTS, and LTE) design knowledge and principles.
Understanding of the principles and standard practices of radio and communication electronics
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and circuit schematics.
Full knowledge of setting up different power backup solutions
Excellent understanding of Rectifiers, Generators, Solar systems, different batteries options and how they work.
Excellent knowledge of load calculation against power capacity
Advanced knowledge of the operation, repair, and installation of power equipment at telecommunication sites
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Cultivates good peer working relationship
Provides guidance to others in work area breaking down information in a systematic/logical manner
Exchanges complex technical information
Independently completes assignments
Independently applies knowledge of technical practices and specialty area standards

Years of Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years relevant technical experience in telecommunication power systems and expertise in Power systems design, planning, maintenance, and repair
