Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the technical budget.
- Oversee maintenance to the vehicle fleet.
- Manage maintenance of facilities, tools and equipment.
- Control workshop tools and equipment.
- Manage engineering administration functions
- Supervise workshop personnel and identify developmental needs.
- Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations are adhered to in the workshop.
- Monitor Asset Register.
- Liaise with Manufacturers and Suppliers to ensure optimal service delivery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the transport industry, technical / engineering practices and procedures as they relate to the operation and maintenance of trucks.
- Able to demonstrate financial management principles & procedures, especially budget management.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act including stock management procedures and stores management.
- Good analytic thinking, problem-solving skills, planning and organizing skills.
- Ability to present and display sound judgement
- Attention to detail
- Diagnostic Ability
- Good verbal / written Communication skills and project management skills.
- Negotiation Skills
- Progressive leadership Skills and excellent time management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications i.e., word, excel, power-point.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Diesel mechanic or Auto electrical
- Proven track record of fleet management
- At least two years management experience
- 5- 8 years working experience with heavy duty maintenance.
