PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND TASKS

1 Networking

1.1.1 IT infrastructure

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the company IT infrastructure.
  • Implement network security at all company offices
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of company IT infrastructure and directs junior staff when necessary
  • Oversee the administration of the company’s WAN
  • To liaise with all software and hardware vendors for new solutions, improvements, additions and ensure that the company’s requirements are met within budget and as well as of an acceptably high quality
  • Negotiation of service level contracts with such vendors/third parties.

1.1.2 Company Website

  • Assist in the design, coding and testing of technical solutions for the continuous improvement of the Company website as a marketing tool
  • Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to clients both internal and external

1.1.3 Internet and email

  • Ensure the availability of internet and email and ensure that the connection is secure from external attack from hackers/viruses/malware etc.
  • To liaise with service providers for cost effective and efficient solutions.

1.1.4 Telephone

Manage and develop upgrades to the company’s telephone systems

  • Oversee all telephone changes

1.2 Training

Oversee the administration and maintenance of stations and software used for company training programmes and offer additional support where necessary

1.3 Internal systems

  • Oversee troubleshooting, systems backups, antivirus updates and upgrades, System updates and upgrades, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary
  • Work with project teams to help implement internal systems.

1.4 Help Desk administration

  • Oversee all helpdesk activities at regional level
  • Respond to escalated help desk issues
  • Interact with internal clients at all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.

1.5 Asset Management

  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.
  • Ensure the company assets are maintained responsibly

2. Responsibility Specific Competences

2.1 Innovation Development

  • Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentors those with less experience through formal channels
  • Help team execute career development plans
  • Seek and participates in development opportunities above and beyond training required
  • Train other innovators and clients through both formal and informal training programmes
  • Encourage junior innovators to take responsibility of their development within the company
  • Challenge fellow innovators towards their professional development goals

2.2 Internal operations

  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
  • Lead internal teams/task forces
  • Approve team member’s time and expense reports in a conscientious and timely manner.
  • Review the status reports of team members and addresses issues as appropriate.
  • Comply with and helps to enforce standards, policies and procedures

Technical

  • Defining and enforcing IT Management policies and procedures
  • High level IT Support
  • Overall responsibility for the integrity of the Company’s various databases
  • IT audits
  • Group procurement of hardware and software
  • Technical security policy definition
  • Management of the company’s IT support team
  • Responsible for the LAN and WAN infrastructure, implementation and support of which some duties will be out-sourced
  • Client  liaison
  • Dealing with all problems, hardware, software or human resources as would have been logged by the stores through their IT managers
  • Maintaining a database of all faults logged, their history and documenting the solutions derived thereof
  • Carrying out regular hardware, software and human resource audits at company sites
  • Delegating daily duties to technical staff
  • Completing monthly maintenance contracts
  • Setting up internet/email accounts and servers
  • Any other job related tasks assigned to you by your supervisor.

Project Management

  • Project managing all IT related company projects and ensuring that a high level of workmanship is attained.
  • Liaising with Projects department on office layouts and infrastructure design
  • Ensuring all IT equipment is sourced at the best possible price and is up to an acceptable standard
  • Managing Database creation and population with items, departments, users etc
  • Any other job related tasks assigned to you by your supervisor.

Training

  • Responsible for identifying training needs for all company personal using computerised systems/gadgets or points of data entry
  • Developing and implementing training programmes and the documentation involved
  • Regular evaluation of such training

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Programming.
  • End user oriented.
  • Expert IT skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of operating systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Java, C C++, SQL, C#, .NET and HTML experience.
  • Aptitude for learning new technology.
  • Deadline driven.
  • Knowledge on business processes is preferred.
  • Superior communication skills.
