3Eighteen Zambia is a faith-based organization with the aim of bringing empowerment and lasting hope to the vulnerable. 3Eighteen Zambia is contributing to the improvement of livelihoods of the vulnerable in the community through OVC Education support, Hub technology, Entrepreneurship through non-interest microloans and animal empowerment programs, and bringing the masses to the Lord through discipleship activities. 3Eighteen Zambia is implementing its programs in 5 districts in the republic of Zambia namely; Kabwe, Chibombo and Kapiri Mposhi of the central province, Kafue of Lusaka Province, and Ndola of the Copperbelt province. 3Eighteen Zambia is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to take up the position of Hub Coordinator, reporting directly to the Country Director and stationed in Kabwe.
Position – Hub Coordinator
The overall responsibility of the Hub Coordinator will be to coordinate technical oversight, manage and provide leadership in the implementation of the Hub activities. The Hub is aimed at supporting and empowering the less privileged youths in the society by facilitating and providing direct access to alternative learning of technology skills. In liaison with the country office the Hub Coordinator will actively participate in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting both at Hub facility and Country level.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. GENERAL DUTIES OF THE HUB
- Manage information technology and computer systems
- Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
- Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures
- Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
- Audit systems and assess their outcomes
- Preserve assets, information security and control structures
- Lead large IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services
- Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
- Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes
- Analyse business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the global to develop solutions for IT needs
- Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT
- Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
B. NETWORKING OF THE HUB
- Developing new network troubleshooting strategies to help reduce maintenance costs
- Creating rational strategies for upgrading the company’s network software whenever a new update is available
- Constructing and implementing plans to ensure the company’s network continues to operate smoothly in the event of a problem
- Staying up to date with new network technology and reporting this information to the executive team each quarte
- Working closely with other department Managers to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the company’s networ
- Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
- Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP
- Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation
- Configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximise network efficiency and security
- Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Arranging scheduled upgrades
- Investigating faults in the network
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders
- Maintain contracts and monitor Datacentre AC and Power
- Act as backup administrator of backup and recovery
- Analyse system functions and failures to isolate and define problem areas.
- Monitor the reachability of all connections within the network adhering to circuit restoral priorities and initiate troubleshooting to restore full network capability.
- Monitor system performance and track usage and develop and deliver a trend analysis of system load, usage and response
- Perform diagnostic analysis of the network system, identify possible faulty devices, troubleshoot faulty modules, troubleshoot network problems and outages, and prepare necessary documentation detailing actions taken
- Provide on-site and telephonic technical services necessary to insure the continuing operation and optimization of the network
- Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed.
- Communicating with clients about layout and design.
- Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.
- Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategize with multiple teams or clients for a wide range of materials that may include web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, internal communication, newsletters, and marketing materials
- Create a creative process of generating, developing and communicating new ideas – called ideation.
GRAPHIC DESIGN OF THE HUB
- Planning concepts by studying relevant information and materials.
- Illustrating concepts by designing examples of art arrangement, size, type size and style and submitting them for approval.
- Preparing finished art by operating necessary equipment and software.
- Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and websites with software such as photoshop.
- Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary.
- Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity
- Develop concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content determining ideal usage of colour, text, font style, imagery, and layout
- Manage the design and uploading process of all project material, understanding best practices for using a content management system
- Use trend intelligence and an understanding of the current and historical business and market to design and execute specific classification
- Research the idea, develop, evaluate and apply.
- Build or maintain branding for clients or employer.
- Create work that is consistent across platforms and speaks to the right audience.
TUTORING OF PUPILS/ STUDENTS AT THE HUB
- Planning lessons and activities that facilitate students’ acquisition of basic and advanced computer skills.
- Instructing students in a manner that develops their confidence and abilities.
- Observing and managing classroom dynamics.
- Invigilating and grading projects, quizzes, and examinations.
- Tracking and communicating students’ advancement throughout the course.
- Ensuring that the computer laboratory always remains free from food and drink.
- Downloading important software updates and maintaining hardware.
- Instruct students on facets of Java, Python, C, Scheme, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, and other relevant technologies.
- Instruct students on how computers work, including the basic science and mathematics behind their operation and the hardware and the software built on those foundations.
- Teach students about computer programs, algorithms, and programming languages.
- Keep records of grades, grade papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
- Read and stay abreast of current topics in computer science.
- Develop incentives to keep participants in class.
- Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
- Utilize public library resources.
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
- Tutor students on an individual basis.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Full grade 12 Certificate
- Must hold a degree or equivalent in the field of Information technology/Computer Science
- A Masters degree will be an added advantage.
- Must be proficient in IT (Excell, Word, Access/Publisher, Power Point, internet).
- A minimum of 3 year working experience in the field IT.
- Must have experience in report writing, use of Fiverr platform, using Adobe Photoshop and using the Canva design software
