The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is a body corporate established under the repealed Securities Act, Cap. 354 of the Laws of Zambia and whose existence is continued under the new Securities Act, No. 41 of 2016. SEC has the objective of inter alia regulating and developing the Zambian Capital Markets and is responsible for the supervision and development of the Capital Markets in Zambia as well as the licensing of financial intermediaries, collective investment schemes and securities exchanges, the registration of securities to be issued such as debt and equity instruments, and the authorization of transactions in entities registered with SEC.
SEC now seeks to recruit a qualified Zambian to fill the following position:
Job Title: Assistant I.T. Officer
1.1 Job Purpose: The holder will provide support to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Infrastructure, and Business Systems.
1.2 Key Result Areas and Accountabilities
Key Result Area | Principal Accountabilities (Main Duties) |
User Support | Provide first and second line diagnosis and support service to the Commission users as required. |
Information Systems and Network Security Management | Plan and implement information system and network security according to the Commission’s ICT security policies and procedures to protect against unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse. |
Backup Management | Ensure that the Commission systems and computer files are regularly backed, stored data in a secure place and ensure that the backups are reliable, accessible, and compliant with industry standards. |
Patch Management | Applying updates to software, drivers, and firmware to protect against vulnerabilities |
Development Of ICT Policy Documents | Develop manuals and provide end user training on new technologies and tools. |
Software Development | Develop new software applications whenever required. |
Website Management | Maintain website and content including text and images, optimizing accessibility, impact and ensuring web security. |
Other Duties | Any other duties as maybe assigned by the supervisor from time to time. |
Required competencies/Personal qualities:
- Experience in installing and managing Microsoft and Linux Server Environments, Virtualization Technologies: Hyper-V, VMware and Configuration of Sophos or Checkpoint Networking equipment.
- Understanding of JavaScript, PHP, JAVA, ASP.NET/C# programming languages and MYSQL/MSSQL database management systems
- Experience working with and managing information across different Content Management Systems (CMS)
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving skills -Strong analytical and technical skills, able to pay attention to detail.
- Report writing skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
1.4 Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with five (5) ‘O’ Level credits or better in Mathematics and English Language
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ ICT
- Member of ICTAZ
1.5 Minimum relevant work experience.
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- One (01) year post qualifying experience in programming will be an added advantage.
