JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Head Kitchen Chef

Reports Directly to: Finance Director

Staff Reporting to Position: Kitchen Staff

Department: Finance Department (Kitchen Unit)

-Purchasing of all inventory for the kitchen
-Supervision of all Kitchen Staff
-Making sure that meals are prepared and served in good environment
-Maintaining high hygienic standards for the kitchen and surrounding areas
-Menu planning and ensuring cost effectiveness
-Maintaining correct inventory re-order levels for the kitchen
-Managing and working closely with other chefs and kitchen Assistants
-Controlling and directing food preparation processes daily
-Approving and polishing dishes before they reach the patients
-Recipe developing based on the food available
-Maintaining personal hygiene
-Working closely with maintenance supervisor to report all electrical and plumbing faults
-Working closely with quality Assurance Manager
-Carry out assigned tasks by the head of department
-Formulating Annual Kitchen Budgets
-Development of nutritional menus for patients
-Working closely with Nurse Matron on patients’ nutritional needs
-Kitchen staff annual performance evaluation
-To possess sufficient language skills to understand the tasks at hand
-Use kitchen equipment safely; operate electrical and mechanical equipment
-Maintain appropriate inventory of food and supplies
-Assess condition of food
-Attend devotion and Chapel
-Any other duties that may be assigned to you

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

-1-3 years of professional work experience as kitchen Assistant
-Grade 12 certificate
-Certificate/ Diploma in food production
