MK Petroleum Company is a transport and logistics company operating regionally from Lusaka, Zambia. We transport petroleum products for various clients.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site Automotive Electrician role located in Lusaka. The role is ideal for a physically fit candidate with great attention to detail. The Automotive Electrician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining and servicing the fleet of trucks and fuel tankers. The Automotive Electrician must be able to conduct diagnostic tests, identifying malfunctions, replacing damaged/worn parts, and test completed repairs. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the vehicles perform at an optimal level, are serviced on schedule and meet safety regulations. All vehicles which pass through depot require checking thoroughly, these checks need to be performed efficiently and to a high standard. Experience with Shacman and FAW vehicles is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in mechanical or automotive electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ practical experience in a reputable organisation.
  • Knowledge of Shacman and FAW trucks highly desirable.
  • Valid Class CE drivers license. Preferably with DG.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine operations, repairs, and maintenance services.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and their use.
  • Able to interpret schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify, and repair mechanical issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good Time management, and good organisational skills desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Running diagnostic tests on vehicles.
  • Replacing or repairing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.
  • Checking vehicle electrical systems.
  • Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks.
  • Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.

Work Hours:

08.00 – 17.00 Monday to Friday

Every second weekend you will be required to work 08.00 – 17.00 Saturday and Sunday.

A day off in lieu will be given during the week.
