1. Midwives
Job Purpose
Provide medical support and care for patients during pregnancy, labour, childbirth and postpartum phase.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and implement all sexual and reproductive health activities at the facility in liaison with other healthcare professionals.
- Offer full antenatal and postnatal care, including screening tests in the hospital and the community.
- Provide maternal and familial support during preconception, pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum phase.
- Assist in the setting up of a Maternity Department in the new health centre/ hospital.
- Monitor and examine women during and after pregnancy and during labour and delivery.
- Educate and counsel patients on health promotion, disease prevention and family planning.
- Offer support to doctors during complex medical procedures or deliveries.
Qualifications
- Full Grade Twelve Certificate or equivalent.
- Diploma in Nursing and fully licensed and registered to practice nursing in the appropriate jurisdiction.
- A Degree in Nursing is an added advantage.
- Must be a qualified ZRN/ZRM from a recognized institution.
- A current license to practice nursing in Zambia from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
- Must have at least 3 – 5 years’ experience.
