Overview:
As a Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the supply chain process to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. Your role involves strategic planning, coordination, and management of logistics operations to meet organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Management:
- Develop and implement effective supply chain strategies to optimize logistics operations.
- Monitor and manage end-to-end logistics processes, from procurement to delivery.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of logistics professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to team members.
Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers, and other logistics partners.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favourable terms and conditions.
Inventory Control:
- Implement inventory management best practices to optimize stock levels and minimize holding costs.
- Oversee the accuracy of inventory records and conduct regular audits.
Cost Optimization:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities within the logistics process without compromising quality or service.
- Analyze transportation, warehousing, and distribution costs and implement cost-effective solutions.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations affecting logistics operations.
- Ensure compliance with customs, import/export regulations, and other industry standards.
Performance Metrics:
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on performance metrics.
Technology Integration:
- Evaluate and implement logistics technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and visibility.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in logistics technology.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen logistical challenges.
Communication:
- Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, production, and customer service to ensure seamless coordination.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on logistics performance and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in logistics management, with a track record of successful supply chain optimization.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of logistics software and systems.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
