Our client is looking for a Drilling Specialist to join their team. Please find below the qualifications and competences required for this position:
Overall Job Purpose
The main purpose of the Drilling Specialist is to coordinate, monitor and facilitate Training and assessment and reporting on the effectiveness of Training programmes and interventions in accomplishing the long-term skills developmental goals/objectives of the company.
Qualifications
-Full Grade twelve certificate
-Certificates in Surface Mobile equipment [SME] Operations in related field – Drills.
-Minimum of diploma in a technical field, degree is preferred.
-A diploma in technical teaching/teaching methodology or equivalent will be an added advantage
-Training professional registered with TEVETA and valid EIZ licence.
-Certificate in supervisory/leadership course.
-Advanced Simulator Certificate level 1 & 2 – an added advantage.
-Valid Blasting License -Certificate
-Certificate in Computer skills (Word, Excel PowerPoint & Outlook)
-Valid Driver’s License
-Valid first aid certificate is advantageous.
Experience
-A minimum of 5-8 years of operational experience at supervisor level and 3-5 years’ experience as Drill & Blast Trainer/assessor preferably in the mining industry.
-Knowledge with regards the legislation that govern mine safety as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Zambia and other safety statutory provisions.

Job Specific Competencies
Hands-on drilling operator experience in the following equipment Epiroc D65, Epiroc Pit Viper, Epiroc DML, Epiroc DM30, CAT MD6640.
Must have hands-on experience with Drill & Blast equipment operations.
-Must have started as an operator with at least 2-3 years’ experience on the stated machines.
-Must HAVE teaching methodology
-Must have Trainer and assessor experience for at least 5 years. Less can be accepted if the candidate is from reputable mine companies/OEM
-Good knowledge of Training tools and guideline
-Training material and assessment documents development.
-Knowledge of legislation governing mining safety related to Drill Equipment & Blast
-Mining regulations knowledge.
-Knowledge in basic health and safety.
-Knowledge of training event coordination.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office.
-Knowledge of e-learning platforms.
-Communication skills with good command of the English language.
-Mentoring and coaching skills.
-Presentation and facilitation skills.
-Excellent organizational and report writing.
