The Procurement Assistant will be responsible for sourcing for suppliers, products, and services and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality. The position will report to the Procurement Head.
Responsibilities
Ensures that activities and procurement-related deliverables related to subcontracts are achieved on schedule, in accordance with approved specifications and within the allocated budget.
Preparing budgets
Solicit quotations and make purchases based on the company’s policies and procedures
Ensure timely delivery of all goods and or services to clients
Getting requests from our different company sites
Conduct stock taking
Generate weekly procurement reports outlining pending, completed items, and addressing
Maintain and update the supplier register, including delivery times, and product ranges.
Foster positive supplier relationships.
Research and evaluate potential suppliers.
Ensure timely orders and deliveries of required products and services.
Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Perform other related tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned.
Requirements and skills
Diploma in Purchasing and Supply/ supply chain management or equivalent work experience.
Member of the Zambia institute of Purchasing and Supply
Proven success in cultivating relationships with external stakeholders such as Suppliers.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Strong negotiation skills.
Excellent IT skills, especially Excel, Power point, and Word.
Be results oriented and forward thinking, with demonstrated analytical skills.
Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Supervisory and management experience.
