INTRODUCTION
The USAID Zambia Enterprise Development and Growth Enhanced (EDGE) Activity is facilitating investment in high-potential agricultural Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets to a) generate both a financial return and positive impact for smallholder farmers and rural communities and b) increase the competitiveness of SMEs and their products.
To stimulate job creation, EDGE also exposes students and recent graduates to a corporate and/or agribusiness environment, for them to gain experience and increase their chances of employability after exiting the program. To this end, USAID EDGE is seeking an intern to assist with graphic design activities for a maximum period of 6 months.
A. Roles and Responsibilities
As a Graphic Design Intern at USAID EDGE, you will work closely with our communications team to support the development and design of graphics across various channels, including print, digital, web, and video. Reporting to the Communications Specialist, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:
Collaborate with the Design Team: Work closely with the design team to ensure effective communication of USAID/OTI’s work to internal and external audiences, contributing to the overall outreach efforts.
Create Engaging and Visually Appealing Designs: Develop visually compelling designs for various channels, including social media, website, and other marketing materials, aligning with the organization’s brand and messaging.
Develop Brand Guidelines and Templates: Assist in creating brand guidelines and templates for marketing materials, ensuring consistency and adherence to the organization’s visual identity.
Graphics for Reports, Presentations, and Publications: Generate graphics for reports, presentations, and other publications, enhancing the visual representation of USAID EDGE’s mission and impact in a professional and engaging manner.
Transform Ideas into High-Quality Design Products: Take conceptual ideas and turn them into high-quality design products that accurately represent the USAID EDGE brand, ensuring a cohesive and impactful visual identity.
Organize and Maintain Digital Assets Library: Support the design team in organizing and maintaining a library of digital assets, facilitating efficient access to resources, and promoting consistency in design elements.
Stay Up to Date with Design Trends and Software: Keep abreast of design trends, techniques, and software, ensuring that the designs remain contemporary and aligned with industry best practices.
B. Primary Requirements
Passion for Graphical Designing and its potential for positive change.
Must be in the process of or have recently earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, Information Technology, or a similar discipline.
Understanding of graphical designing digital tools and their audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Knowledge of USAID and international development (a plus).
Having your own design software will be an added advantage.

Graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Video production and editing.
Website content updates.

Strong organizational and time-management.
