WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT.

The Zambia Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is a Humanitarian Organization established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament CAP 307 of the laws of Zambia as an auxiliary institution that augments government’s efforts in developmental works and humanitarian assistance. ZRCS is part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). In line with its mandate, ZRCS partners with the Government of the Republic of Zambia in responding to both man-made and natural disasters, including epidemics.

As part of our expansion plans, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Warehouse Assistant to join our logistics team.

Job Summary: The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for supporting various warehouse activities, ensuring efficient and organized operations. This role involves handling incoming and outgoing goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, and collaborating with other team members to meet company goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving and Inspection:
Receive incoming shipments and verify the accuracy of the delivered items against the accompanying documentation.
Conduct thorough inspections of received goods for damages or discrepancies and report any issues to the supervisor.
Inventory Management:
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by performing regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.
Organize and label products for easy identification and retrieval.
Ensure proper storage and handling of all products to prevent damage or deterioration.
Order Fulfillment:
Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
Collaborate with other team members to fulfill orders efficiently and meet shipping deadlines.
Quality Control:
Monitor and maintain the quality of products throughout the storage and fulfillment process.
Report any quality issues to the supervisor and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Equipment Operation:
Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools.
Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues promptly.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
Comply with company policies and procedures related to warehouse operations.

Qualifications:

Certificate or Diploma in Warehousing and logistics, Purchasing and Supply, Operations Management.
2+ years of experience in warehouse/stores related work or in a similar position.
Must be a registered member with the Zambian Institute of Purchasing and Supply or Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply.
Must be able to operate a folk lift
Must be Physically fit

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 30 Kgs.
Extended periods of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
Knowledge of cholera prevention and response measures is an advantage.
