Baker/ Confectioner
The Baker/ Confectioner will be responsible for creating a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, and desserts, while maintaining high-quality standards. This role involves precise measurements, recipe adherence, and a keen attention to detail to consistently produce delicious and visually appealing products.
Responsibilities:
- Execute baking tasks, following established recipes and ensuring product consistency
- Measure and prepare ingredients accurately, considering quantity and quality.
- Strictly follow recipes to achieve desired taste, texture, and appearance of baked goods.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment such as ovens, mixers, and proofing machines.
- Monitor the baking process, ensuring finished products meet quality standards and comply with health and safety regulations
- Contribute to the development of new recipes and variations to keep the menu fresh and appealing.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following proper hygiene practices and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of baking ingredients, notifying management when supplies need replenishing.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery of baked goods.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Baker/ Confectioner in a bakery or similar environment.
- Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredient functions, and recipe adjustments.
- Creative flair and attention to detail
- In-depth knowledge of Confectionery techniques, chocolate tempering, and artistic decorating.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the food industry.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Education and Certifications:
- Full grade 12 Certificate in (five) 5 O levels
- Culinary or baking certifications are a plus
