Background:

Quantum Foods Operates a broiler and layer breeder business (selling day -old chicks) and table egg business. In lusaka, there is a parent breeding facility, a hatchery, and a feed mill. The breeding facility produces day -old pullets and day -old broiler chicks. Day – old pullets are supplied to the chingola layer rearing farm as well as to the external market, while day -old broiler chicks are all sold. The table egg business, comprising a layer rearing farm, layer farm and feed mill is in the copper belt. Both facilities sell feed to the external market.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The mechanic is responsible for inspecting and repairing vehicles. Also known as Technician, he provides maintenance inspections, assemble mechanical components, and perform repairs to keep company vehicles down time in the workshop to minimum.

Job specifications/responsibilities will include the following:

Carry out service and repairs on all heavy goods vehicles.

Carry out Standard Operation Procedures as required.

Ensure all work carried to health and safety standard.

Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, etc.

Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.

Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality.

Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints.

Repairing engine failures

Carrying out services and repairs within time specifications and maintaining a clean work environment.

Completing job reports and processing paperwork.

Any other duties as assigned by the superior / supervisor.

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to automobiles

Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with engines and transmissions ·

Updating vehicle maintenance records. Maintaining work logs and repairs.

Carrying out scheduled servicing and maintenance.

Installing and fitting new vehicle accessories.

Maintaining a database of all fittings.

Requirements:

5 years related experience as Mechanic.

Minimum Diploma or Craft Certificate in Agricultural Mechanics

Experience in preventive maintenance of motor Vehicles, tractors, and all farm equipment.
